Photography “Extraordinaire”

Have you ever seen a photograph that you absolutely loved but you thought you wouldn’t ever be able to duplicate such extraordinary work? Today, our Greene Gazette team got the chance to use DSLR cameras that normally some of us wouldn’t get to operate. They were so cool! Personally, I have always wanted to learn how to shoot photography. I’ve always been that person who didn’t really know how to take pictures but who would pretend like I did and try to come out with something impressive.  Often, only I thought my pictures were good.

During our four-hour crash course in photography, we learned how to get the right shutter speed, f/stop, and ISO according to the environment and lighting we were in. Believe me, those few skills go a long way.  Photography is an important component of journalism.  No one is going to want to read an article with nothing but text.  People’s attention spans aren’t really that long. Pictures and visual enhancements draw the reader in and entice them to read more.

Tomorrow, our photography lessons continue and our voyage to become the journalists of tomorrow proceeds.
